| Cory Koven - President     Back to Team Page

Cory Koven brings a lifetime of experience in the construction industry to his position as President of Ambassador Construction Company, Inc. As the third generation to be in charge of Ambassador Construction, he brings a solid commitment to maintaining this family run company’s longstanding reputation as one of New York City’s most trusted general contractors and construction management firms, specializing in interior office construction.

Koven’s management style is to lead by example, personally getting involved in many of the company’s projects, as well as overseeing his highly qualified, cross-trained teams of construction managers who are equally dedicated to providing personal service to each of their clients, from a project’s inception to its completion. He considers his employees to be his extended family, as many of them have been with Ambassador for more than 20 years, and some, like he, across generations. Upholding the Koven family value of professional development, most of his construction managers and senior executives have worked their way up from laborers and craftsmen, developing their skills in “value engineering,” always taking into consideration their clients’ need to save time and money while never compromising the quality and integrity of the job. Koven also ensures that his entire team of construction managers is OSHA-certified, consistent in “doing things by the book.”

It is no surprise that construction management and general contracting is Koven’s chosen profession, as he was involved in the family business from the time he was a young child. Under the tutelage of his father Irving Koven, a construction industry giant, Cory learned the business from the ground up. As a young man, Cory started his own drywall company, CLK Construction, which became a valuable subcontractor for Ambassador. Soon after, he was doing prestigious projects for such real estate notables as Larry Silverstein and Bernie Mendik, and worked along with Ambassador to build in some of New York City’s landmark properties – the Gucci and Elizabeth Arden stores, the Sherry Netherland, Greenwich Mews, to name a few – and later, countless “Class A” Manhattan offices.

Equally important to Koven is giving back to his community. Along with his mother Esther, Ambassador Construction and the Koven family’s foundation are well known for their philanthropic contributions to the medical community, including dedicating the Children’s and Teen’s Playrooms at Bellevue Hospital to the late Irving Koven. The Kovens have also been major donors to the National Jewish Hospital, Project Hope, and Catholic Charities.
